Huang Chi-Ying (SAKI) | Contemporary Rinpa Artist

Huang Chi-Ying (SAKI) works primarily with metal leaf, combining fluid acrylic painting and heat-treated leaf to explore the traces left by light, time, and changes in nature.

Inspired by the Japanese aesthetics of wabi-sabi and mono no aware, she draws on the decorative qualities of Rinpa and its use of gold and silver leaf. She builds her compositions in layers of gold, silver, copper, and aluminum leaf, bringing together metallic reflections, flowing color, and open space.

Her works change with the light and the viewer’s perspective, inviting a quiet reflection on the passage of time, memory, and emotion.
